Diarrhea or loose motions refers to the frequent passage of
stools which are loose and watery.

Loss of water from the body can cause dehydration. It also

Table salt – Gulp
down a spoon of salt with water.
Mint and lemon juice
– collect 15 to 20 mint leaves, wash them and then crush them . Squeeze out the
juices and add it to 1 glass of water. Now add the juice of ½ a lemon in this
water, mix well and drink, You can dtrink it 2-3 times in a day to stop loose
motions.
Turmeric – It is
best to use fresh and raw turmeric roots for this purpose. Clean the turmeric
roots. Smash them to make a paste. Add 1 spoon of this fresh turmeric paste
with 1 cup of warm water and drink it. You can drink it 2-3 times a day for
best results.
Pomegranate juice
– Eat 2 pomegranate a day to reduce loose motion. You can drink home made juice
of it.
Date and honey - the
Ayurvedic loose motion cure –
Take 1 tsp of date paste and 2-3 drops of honey to it. Mix
the two well and then take it. You can take this treatment not more than 2
times in a day to control loose motion.
Mix 2 tsp of lemon
juice with ½ tsp ginger paste and a little black pepper powder. It is also very
effective method.
Drinking strong black
tea
without sugar is very effective in loose motion.
Add 1/4th
tsp of cinnamon powder and 1 tbs of honey to a glass of warm water. Mix it well
and
drink thrice a day.
By these home remedies you can treat loose motions at home
now. You will have to contact a doctor if you have loose motions or fever for
more than 24 hours and if you are unable to take even liquids to prevent water
loss.

Lemonade– lemon
juice has anti-inflammatory properties . Extract the juice from one full lemon.
Add 1 tsp of sugar and pinch of salt. Mix it well. Consume every hour.
Loose motion is worrisome when you pass stools more than 3
times in a day . Since the body is excreting more fluids it can cause a water
imbalance in the body called dehydration. Dehydration can be life threatening if

hydrate your

by coconut water, homemade juices, soups, electrolyte powders etc.
Bottle gourd juice
– Take a fresh bottle gourd , peel the skin and then cut into small pieces. Now
put these pieces in a blender and mash it well. Squeeze out the juice from the
mash mixture and consume it two times a day.
Bael powder – Fruit of this is called wood apple. Take 25 gm dried powder of this fruit and
mix it with honey and take this mixture 3-4 times a day. Or you can simply eat fresh Bael pulp or its dried powder depending upon availability.
Buttermilk – The
acid in the buttermilk has the ability to fight bacteria and germs and to
soothe your digestive system. You can add black pepper, roasted cumin seeds
powder , turmeric powder, black salt etc.
Bananas – Since
it is starchy and pulpy , it helps bind
the stools.
Psyllium seeds – Ground
psyllium seeds is quite an effective cure. Mix 1-3 tbs in water and drink. It
soaks up the excess fluid present in the intestine and makes the stool bulkier.
Brown rice with curd
– Make sure the rice is boiled until very soft , as it is easy on the system .
It helps to flush out harmful toxins from the body.
Some valuable tips
– Try to take complete bed rest so that your body can recover easily.
You can also use heating pads on your stomach area if you
are experiencing stomach cramps and pain.
Avoid milk products
– It is vital that you totally avoid milk and milk products for at least 3-4
days until you fully recover from the loose motion bout. The intestines will
not be able to digest milk and milk products during loose motion and consuming
them will lead to increase in loose motion.
If you have just recovered from a bout of loose motion it is
ideal that you take starch rich foods for a couple of days to ease your stomach
and to help in easy digestion like well cooked rice, boiled potatoes , curd etc.
