Blood pressure is the pressure of moving or circulating blood exerted on the walls of your arteries. During each heartbeat, this blood pressure varies between a maximum (systolic) and a minimum (diastolic) pressure. The blood pressure in circulation is developed due to the pumping action of the heart. Abnormal or very high Blood Pressure may lead to heart failure, stroke, coronary heart disease, complete kidney failure etc . In other cases it may affect functioning of our lungs, brain and heart.

people all over the world are affected by blood pressure. There is no sure shot
permanent treatment for Blood Pressure. The patient has to remain on daily
doses of medication to maintain and control it.
It is also known as silent killer or hypertension. Not surprisingly things such as diet and exercise play big role in lowering blood pressure. So always keep these two things at the fore front .
Nornal Blood Pressure :
A blood
pressure reading has a top value measure (systolic) and a bottom value measure(diastolic). The range for these reading are:
-Normal BP :Less than 120 over 80 (120/80)
-Stage 1 high blood pressure ( High BP):140-159 over 90-99
-Stage 2 high blood pressure ( High BP):160 and above over 100 and above
-High blood pressure(BP) in people over age 60:150 and above over 90 and above
Causes of High Blood Pressure(BP)
The actual reason of high BP is not known yet , but several
factors and conditions responsible for developing this condition are:
-Smoking and excessive Alcohol consumption.
-Lack of Physical Exercise and /or being overweight.
-Excessive salt in the diet.
-Stress and tension.
-Old age
-Hereditary or history of high blood pressure in family.
-Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
-Adrenal and thyroid disorders
In more than 90% cases of high BP , the cause is not known for most of the patient. This is taken as cases of essential Hypertension.
Home Treatment for High Blood
Pressure
-Reduce sodium and fats in your diet limit sodium to 2,300 milligrams (mg) per day or less for healthy people. A lower sodium level of 1,500 mg per day or less should be followed for people 51 years of age or older. Same should be followed for individuals of any age who have high BP, diabetes or chronic kidney disease.
Melon in the morning-
Every morning be faithful to watermelon. Eat your melon on an empty stomach. You should take 1-2 cups of fresh water melon daily.
or
Grind equal quantities of dried water melon seeds and khus khus. Take 1 tsp of this mixture in the morning on an empty stomach and again in the evening.
-Bananas are one fruit that people with high BP can eat regularly to control it. It is a rich source of potassium which lessens the effect of sodium.
-Eat 1 or 2 crushed garlic cloves daily.
-Use herbs or spices rather than salt, to add more flavor to your food.
-Ginger cardamom tea - It is a very useful home remedy for high BP.
-Lose
the extra pound
if you are obese. And control your waistline if it is not
ideal. For men waist should not be more than 92 cm and for women it should not
be more than 83 cm.
-Exercise
regularly to keep yourself fit. 30 to 40 minutes brisk walk will keep away most
of the diseases from you. And will keep your BP under control. Be a regular
member of some gym or health club.
-Eat
a
healthy diet that is rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat
dairy products . Skips on saturated fat and cholesterol can lower your blood
pressure by up to 15 mm Hg. Include good things in your shopping list.
-Limit
the amount of Alcohol
into your daily routine. You should not take more than
one drink if you have to.
Important - Maintaining good control of glucose and high blood pressure limits morbidity and mortality.
