Everything  you eat or drink including medicines passes through your liver . it means your liver is in direct contact with pesticides , food additives , microorganisms etc . Although the immune system protects our body from many dangers , it is the liver that protects the immune system from becoming overloaded . if you have a healthy liver, then all toxics will be removed by the liver from the body . So always try to keep your liver healthy . Liver requires high amount of vitamins and minerals to perform its many functions  ;so your diet should be high in fruits and vegetables.

Foods that help to make liver strong are :-

Water

Have enough water because dehydration can make it harder for the organ to complete its job properly .

Lemon water

Having lemon water in the morning helps to stimulate the liver functioning.

Garlic , ginger, onions

Garlic has high amount of allicin and selenium which help to activate liver enzymes and these in turn help your body to flush out toxins . Garlic and onions  contain sulphur , which helps your liver to detoxify.

Walnuts

These are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and they assist in normal functioning of liver .

Green tea

It is full of antioxidants which  gets rid of toxics from the body

Carrots

These are rich in betacarotene and flavonoids thus helping in stimulating the functions of liver

Eggs

Eggs contain all essential amino acids needed by  the liver to detoxify your body

Berries

Blue berries, strawberries , cranberries are among natures superfoods because they contain phytochemicals which assist  your liver  in  protecting  your body from free radicals .

Apples

 These are rich in pectin .  Its chemical constituents  cleanse and release toxins from the digestive tract.

Apple cider vinegar

It helps to detoxify the liver : To use it  mix 1 tbs of apple cider vinegar in 1 glass of water and add 1 tsp of honey ;drink this mixture two times in a day.

Flax seeds

Have just ¼ th teaspoon daily , it will  strengthen your liver.

Turmeric or Haldi

It is full of antioxidants. Have a little turmeric flavoured milk regularly . it will help to make your liver strong .

Amla

It is  the richest  source of  vitamin c .  Extracts of amla have liver protective function . it is one of the important component  in Chyawanprash that has immune boosting power.

Chewing fennel seeds after meals aids digestion

Aloe vera is a digestive tonic and pain reliever.

Green vegetables

Like spinach , mustard leaves , bitter gourd help to clean the blood. Chew raddish leaves and stems . It is very helpful  in  treating  liver problems after jaundice.

Cruciferous vegetables

Broccoli and cauliflower have natural enzymes which help to flush out carcinogens and other toxins from the body.

Always use the alternative grains like sometimes wheat , sometimes millet , barley , jawar etc.

  Ayurveda suggests cleansing the liver with sugarcane or pomegranate juice

Important points:-

Try to eat organic food , by this way you can keep your liver away from pesticides , microorganisms etc.

Limit the fried foods because fried foods contain trans fats which leads to  obesity and fatty liver.

Chillis , pickles, meat , alcohol should be avoided

Reduce sugary food

Avoid eating large meals at a time ; eat small meals many times in day.

Avoid eating for at least 3 hours before bedtime to allow the liver to do its function properly.

Do regular exercise . exercise increases sweating which helps to remove the toxins through the skin . This relieves the stress on liver.
