It is a crispy snack with lots of nutritional values. Ginger and garlic used in preparing this recipe have good medicinal value and also honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is very delicious & easy to prepare at home . Let us learn how to make the best honey chilli potato at home.
INGREDIENTS :-
Medium sized peeled potatoes – 2
Onion medium size(chopped) – 1
Capsicum medium size without seeds(chopped)- 1
Chopped Ginger and garlic – 2 tsp
Honey – 2 table spoon or acc to
taste
Chilli powder – 1 tsp or acc to
taste
Salt – as required
Soya sauce – 1 tbs
Tomato sauce – ½ tbs
Hot and sweet tomato sauce – 1 tbs
Red chilli sauce – 1 tbs
Vinegar -1/2 tbs
Sugar – ½ tsp
Corn flour for making sauce – 1 tbs
Corn flour for frying the potatoes
– 2-3 tbs
Rice flour- 2-3 tbs
Oil – for frying
Water – 1 cup
Sesame seeds – for garnishing
Spring onion – for garnishing
(optional)
Peel off the skin of potatoes and cut into long halves . Soak them in warm water to get rid of extra starch . After 5 minutes take out all potatoes and rinse with cold water. Now add corn flour, rice flour , some salt and oil in a bowl. Make a little thick paste by adding very small quantity of water . Fry the potatoes one by one after dipping in the paste. Fry it on high flame for 2- 3 minutes . After 2 minutes take them out .Now fry it for second time on low flame for 5 to 8 minutes in hot oil until they turnout golden brown.
TO MAKE SAUCE :-
Heat 3
table spoon of oil in a pan . Add chopped
ginger and garlic . After frying the ginger and garlic , add chopped onions and
capsicum .After frying the capsicum and onion , add corn flour water(
add 1 tbs of corn flour in 1 cup of water) stirring continuously , after 1-2
minutes add all the sauces , vinegar, and sugar ,salt ,red chili powder, little
bit salt etc. Cook for 1-2 minutes ,
switch off the flame, add honey ,keep aside it for 3-4 minutes .
After
3- 4 minutes add hot fried potatoes .
Mix
well . Sprinkle sesame seeds and green
spring onion before serving.
To keep the potatoes crunchy fry them twice.
Do not soak the potatoes in warm
water for a long time ( 5 minutes are sufficient).
Pahari potatoes are good for this
dish.
Before frying, potatoes should be covered thoroughly with paste(paste of corn
flour and rice flour).
After frying second time, put it
immediately in sauce.
Before adding potatoes, the sauce should be little warm but not so hot.
Use only Indian sauces not chinese
as you know Chinese sauces are not good for our health.
Always add honey after switch off
the flame to preserve its nutrients.
